Infertility can be considered as an international health problem. It is one of the most frequently occurring health problem affecting active young adults. It is time consuming and costly. It concerns all social classes and races. As per international survey, more than 12 – 15 % couples face the problems of infertility during their married life. In social language, infertile couples are biologically handicapped adults.
During evaluation of infertile couple, there are 2 stages - i.e. diagnostic stage and treatment stage
Diagnostic Stage ▼
Male and female partners undergo history, examination and investigation to pinpoint the cause of infertility.
To know fertility potential of male there is only one investigation & that is semen Analysis & Sperm Function Test.

Treatment Stage ▼
In ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) procedures (IUI, IVF, ICSI), Semen processing & isolation of motile sperm is must.
Hence Semen Analysis Setup is the integral part of ART Setup.
To know the fertility potential of male there is only one investigation & that is Semen Analysis.
Semen is a body fluid, viscous in nature, contains millions of sperms which exhibit motility.
Bring all the sperms in single layer during microscopic examination. (Avoid overlapping of sperms).
During Semen Evaluation Air Locking System is preferred to avoid the effect of Air Currents on motility pattern of sperms.
Sperm concentration and % of motility should be examined with one reference only.
Quantitative & qualitative assessment of Sperm motility, in terms of sperm concentration and under the same focus of microscope.
