Poor quality semen may result from abnormal sperm production in testes; post testicular damage of spermatozoa in the epididymis, or abnormal secretions of male sex accessory glands. These glands are made of epithelial & mesenchymal cells requiring ‘Androgen’ for proliferation and functioning.

Seminal vesicle secretions contribute to about 2/3rd volume of seminal plasma and the secretions comprise of fructose, prostaglandins & coagulating proteins. Fructose is a Bio-marker of seminal vesicle functioning.  Fructose is the major energy substrate for sperm metabolism (Glycolytic, anaerobic) & is important for maintaining sperm motility.  Seminal vesicle proteins play a role in forming viscous coagulum of semen after ejaculation. Seminal vesicle secretions may also have a potential role in protecting sperms from ROS present in the semen; whether produced by leucocytes or generated by sperms themselves.

• Store the kit in appropriate conditions as per the instructions given on the package.
• Do not use the kits beyond expiry date given on the package.
• All the reagents are potentially hazardous and it is strictly advised to follow the MSDS instructions.
• All the patients' samples should be treated as potentially infectious. Laboratory personnel are advised to wear protective gloves, face masks, laboratory coats etc while performing the tests.
• Dispose off all the waste generated, during and after the tests, in an appropriate manner as per the governing compliance laws of the land.
